Companies House: Significant increase in PSC data updates from 13 October

Companies House has announced that it will begin loading new People with Significant Control (PSC) data from 13 October 2026. The exercise is expected to generate an increased volume of PSC Streaming API events over approximately 15–20 days.

The update introduces additional links between PSC records and their associated notifications, helping to establish a foundation for improved visibility of company ownership and control.

Why does this matter for firms monitoring Companies House data? There are several practical implications:

Data volumes: Organisations consuming the PSC streaming service should anticipate a substantial increase in events during the loading period.

Genuine changes versus technical updates: An incoming PSC event does not necessarily mean that a companys ownership or control has changed. Systems need to distinguish the loading exercise from genuine corporate developments.

Ownership transparency: Improved connections between PSC records and their notifications could support more effective analysis of individuals and corporate ownership structures.

Risk monitoring: Changes in company control, connections between companies and individuals, and ownership relationships can provide useful context when assessing financial and regulatory risk.

At Watchdog Services, we combine Companies House and FCA information to support ongoing monitoring and due diligence on regulated businesses. The wider point is that increasing the availability of corporate data is only part of the challenge. The real value lies in distinguishing meaningful changes from routine administrative activity.
